car wont idle

Default car wont idle

i just got done having my heads rebuilt and put in a hot cam kit. now when i start the car it wont idle it just dies and when i get it to stay running for a second the motor rocks hard then dies. i have checked the plug wire for correct order. and also what is the head of idle screw for a bbk 58mm tb. is it hex,allen or what? thanks for any help.

Did you have the car tuned for the mods you did? Even something as mild as the hotcam can have trouble without a tune.

no i have not yet i was going to get it all done then take it to a local tuner i know that dose all my tuning for me. even with a small cam shouldnt it idle at all. my ls1 trans am with a built 383 with no tune did better idleing than my lt1?

A 383 will take a bigger cam in stride, and should be a lot more friendly in the "running with no tuning" department.

If you just want the car to idle and make it to your tuner, then back out the idle adjustment screw a little so you raise the idle a bit. Not sure the size/type of head thats on it, but would assume its a hex (again, not sure, havent looked for awhile).

But definitely get it tuned, or else even with that small cam its still going to run like crap.
