Default Rattle can spray job . . .

On my Cadillac, there is a plastic trim piece that goes under the rear lisence plate that connects to the rear bumper. Old one cracked, although the previous owner left me a can of color matched spray paint. Painted the new part, then today I bought some clear coat from autozone and painted three coats of clear on it.

Its more of a semigloss finish. Should I put on some more coats of clear or use some sort of polishing compound on it.

The paint color is a perfect match. It doesn't have that depth that a factory job has. Hell, it doesn't look much different than after I painted it with the base color coat.

I did the painting at my friend's garage, didn't have a camera with me. Although I don't know if a camera could really capture what I am seeing. It looks more like a flat/semigloss finish, rather than the nice finish you get with a regular base/clear job.

I'll spray a couple more coats of clear next time I'm there and I'll take a picture. If it still doesn't look perfect, I'm going to slap it on there anyways, because it'll look a million times better than the cracked POS piece of trim.

I would try to wetsand it, followed by polishing compound then a scratch/swirl remover. That should bring the shine back. Top it off with a wax
