so...i looked intto my exhaust pipe today, and yeah...i have headers with just a 2' pipe coming off each one and the pipes seem to have little pipe sticks inside of them, whats this for and what does it do? i was thinking about just taking those pipes off, but it seems like they might be doing something good?

it looks like... a bunch of X's inside of the pipe.

Sounds like cats to me. If you remove them, you'd better get some o2 simulators for your back o2 sensors, or a tune. Otherwise, you'll have a check engine light on.
