which head unit should i get? kenwood?
i used to be pretty big into all the great brands years ago...since then i have bought nothing but panasonic.
i got to looking at stuff on ebay, and kenwood is catching my eye. especially with their affordable prices
what you guys think of this unit?
it has 22rms per channel, front usb, and it looks to have hd radio capabilities, which i have never even heard yet. idk if it is worth it.
my limit is about 180 so i don't really wanna go over that. especially in a weekend warrior....i am open to suggestions
i want at least 20 rms of clean power x4
equalizer
front usb
and thats about it

are you in too mp3s big because alpine is the easiest to use by far with its file search i have installed many mp3 head units and found none to compete with the alpine search feature

well i picked ones with front usb input for using my ipod and the ease of use on the clarion is supposed to be one of its best features.
so yes i will be using mp3s a lot
the reason i was not gonna get alpine, was the price for what you are getting.
what would your recommend in the price range of like 130-180
it doesn't have to be a brand new alpine model

yea i'm gonna get a new one, it doesn't have to be a new model though
ebay still sells older models that are new
as long as it has some good features, i am all for it
the clarion i posted is what i am leaning towards
which alpine model are your referring to?

I personally have the Kenwood Excelon X791. It can be had on various sites for around $200.
It's an excellent receiver. It has a usb cable that comes out of the back of the head unit. Hd/Sat ready, two pre-amp outputs. And for the price the ability to tweak the sound to exactly what sounds good to you is a bonus. It doesn't have the normal Bass+1, Treble -2. It allows you to fine tune frequencys two equalize the highs, mids and lows. I wouldn't give up on Kenwood yet..

I got a little busy, but i am back. I will check out some more of these models. Thanks
The 9884 has 6x18 watts RMS....hmmm. I wonder if i can splice a couple channels together and make it 4 channels and get some more power out of it...hmmm

i was in between the kenwood ur lookin at and a sony with similar options.
i ended up buying the SONY
in real life the kenwood looks awful.
the door that covers the usb and the aux feels like its easy to break.

I ended up getting a clarion dxz775usb. The features on it are insane. 6v preouts. 18watts rms x 4. Lots of options and such. Charges and plays songs off my ipod and flash drive. Changes to any color I want. Lots and lots of options. 3 band equalizer. 3 preamp outputs. Front, Rear, Sub. BUT..........
I am looking again. I don't like the controls at all. Too many buttons to push to make simple adjustments. For sale if anyone is interested.
