Default Hot Tanking Heads Fully Assembled?

Is it safe to hot tank heads assembled, minus everything but rockers.

It's safe but you need to rinse them well. You are better off to rent a spring compressor and disassemble the heads yourself. All you need to do it put the springs, locks, retainers, locators, and any shims back where they came from.

As long as it is not a chemical tank. IF it is a Chemical hot tank you wont get much back and the chemicals will be ruined

Good call by Ellis. I forgot to mention that LOL. You can't put aluminum in the same solvent you put iron blocks, cranks, etc in

The whole concept seems somewhat pointless. Kind of like wiping your butt without taking off your shorts?

I think a better analogy would be taking a shower with your clothes on

However, there really isn't much area that wouldn't be cleaned in this case. Valve seats, guides and the other small contact surfaces. The water can still get everywhere, it's just it won't flow through the ports, which could possibly cause some grim to be left behind.
