Switching Cams have Question about piston to valve clearance
I'm currently running the MTI C2 cam 224 224 .581 .581 112. I going or want to install the TSP cam 231 237 .598 .591 112. Should I be worried about piston valve clearance? I spoke to the machine shop that set up my heads he believes he only milled the head .007. I don't want to have to pull the head. The compression on my cylinders was around 150 psi. So I don't think the head was milled alot. Should I be worried about the clearance?

I would ask TSP what the typical P to V clearance is with the 231/237 TSP cam on stock heads, on heads milled .010, .020, etc
My heads were supposed to only have .005 for clean up taken off. With basically the same cam you have, I had .075 clearance with the cam degreed in for ideal set up. The heads had ~.020 to .030 taken off of them not .005 as the head porter stated.

Stock heads, usually in the .080-.085" range for intake, and exhaust is in the .085"-.090" range. If you trust that they took off .007" its prob going to be fine, although I always recommend double checking on big cams.

Joseph, do you have the clearances for your 231 237 cam with milled heads .01,.02, etc. I've been talking to Jason about the cam ever since he tuned my SS. I have a dial indicator. Do I have to have the 231 237 cam in to check or can I check using my current cam?

CB, I've only recommended lightly milled heads for that cam. Clearance numbers decrease by the same amount that is milled off. I use a dial indicator with lightweight checking valve springs, and adj. checking pushrods to check clearance.
