Yes, lots of people do. They also port some of the baddest heads out there with their All Pro LSW heads.

More info would be nice. Anyone dyno before and after? Is it all about flow numbers? They claim some of the best flow numbers I have seen on LS7 heads..
I have a modded C6z and I'm considering these heads with a bump in compression and a cam in the 24x/25x around .650 lift. I think the LS7's like alot of lift!
I'm unhappy with my current cam.

Those heads are pretty damn expensive for a N/A set-up. There are LS7 head porters out there with a tad better flow numbers, including better exhaust flow numbers than the 260cfm the All Pro's have, for half the price, fully assembled ready to install.

And if it were ALL ABOUT FLOW............

The problem here is.............it isn't.

Flow is less than half of it unless one is going for big boost. Otherwise, it's about velocity vs. flow. A cylinder head with big flow numbers can, will, and more than often does, MOVE less air than a lesser flowing head but with greater velocity.

Don't really know the velocity of both, but $3,000 more for the All pros is alot for a little bit, if any, extra power. For all I know the other ported LS7 heads flow better with higher velocity. Don't know.

Richard at WCCH (Proheads) is the best. His heads flow quality air and not just numbers. I've run his heads on my 346 and now his L92 heads on my 403.

All pro makes some of the best heads on the market. They don't mass produce like TFS and AFR so they can pay more attention to detail and keep their quality control tight. When I asked my engine builder about what heads to go with on my old school 406 he called Joe Mondello(He is a graduate of Joe Mondello head porting school)and Joe recommended All Pro if money was not a problem. We ended up going with AFR because we were going to have to wait a while for the heads, but it was one of those things worth waiting for if you have the time.

If you look at an LS7 head and then compare them to an All Pro LSW head there is absolutely no comparison. The advantages of an All Pro aftermarket casting are amazing. I have a set of their cathedral port heads and they are amazing even compared to my other completely solid roller / o ringed set of 806 heads.

But honestly, don't you think they're a little overkill for what the OP wants, just an N/A street car daily driver?

A set of nicely done LS7 heads for half the price will do the same thing for his needs, the All Pro's will offer nothing more by way of increased performance.

I would recommend first the cam change, a porting job and mill on your LS7 heads, and a port job on your intake manifold and TB, before dropping the cash on those heads. If you're not happy after those first mods, then you know where to go.

Thats what I'm saying. Hogged out LS7's, cam change and exhaust work, you're gonna approach 600 RWHP. The All Pros are not going to do any better until you do something about that LS7 intake and TB.

This statement is hillarious!! Keep believing it if it works for you. We have knowledge to the contrary. "Hoggedout LS7's........." Lol..........

Ok, not "hogged out", PORTED LS7 heads.

There's a bunch of C6 Z06's running around here that just have their LS7 heads PORTED, cam upgraded and some exhaust work, by a local shop. They all make between 580 RWHP and as much as 620 RWHP.

Are you saying that if they just used the All Pro heads their engines will put down more power? ALL ELSE STAYING THE SAME.

Not saying the All Pros aren't awesome, but they're not going to do any more than the LS7 top end as long as the LS7 intake and TB are used. You can only suck so much air through that intake and TB.

Hi,
I carry them and are using them on my personal 457 build.
I can help answer your questions as well as Richard at WCCH.

The LS7 as everyone knows is CNC ported fro the factory. It is a great head fro what it was designed. Remember this engine gets good milage and it passes emmisions.
We/I have seen many attempt to improve on the LS7 Intake Port. Trust me we have looked at it, cut it, flowed and worked it over. It's a very good port.
There is a little room for improvement on the exhaust side. The GM engineers did a great job but when the parameters are changed you can find a little improvment. Most shops that I know can make that power without touching the LS7 heads. If that is the program that he is on then good for him. The cam and exhaust alone get most people in that power range.

I am not a huge fan of the All Pro head. I know several people I know swear by them. The aftermarket heads have enough material to design a port for your particuar combination. They have more material in the deck as well as the ports and spring pads. The ET heads are hard to get and we don't have our LSX heads ready yet. The Trick Flow heads are also a good option for some people.

Good Luck!

Robin
