'06 Grand Prix GXP RPM Fluctuates
This is my first time to post but have read numerous posts and have been very happy with all the great advice.
I have a '06 grand prix gxp with just under 50k miles on it. Just a few months after purchasing it, I noticed rpm fluctuation at highway speeds. When traveling at 60 mph its running around 1600 rpms but will fluctuate to 2000 rpms. It will not do it under a load, like going up a hill. It will stay at 2000 rpms for a few seconds and then go back to normal. Within a 15 mile drive it will do that 10 times. I have had it into three different shops. The first shop was a large Pontiac dealership, they replaced the torque converter and filter and made sure the computer was up to date. After that didn’t fix the problem I took it to a reputable automatic transmission shop, they determined it was losing pressure from somewhere and tried a few things but didn’t fix it. People have told me just to live with it but I just want to see if this is something that happens to others with gxps or not? I’m just wondering if there is a computer update or something I’m missing?
Thanks!
