Default Is a Thermostat a bad idea ?

ive been looking into them but what do our cars run normally if i do it is a 180 worth it or should i just get a 160? anyone know where i can find a 160? thanks

Not sure about these cars, but 160 is pretty low for most engines. And in some cases will set off a CEL. Most SBCs make peak power around 200 degrees F. So 180 will let the engine run in the 175-190 range which is fine for most engines. Lower temp running engines can reduce retard but ts not a guarantee that it will.

its a waist of time and money its an all aluminum block with aluminum heads they are designed to run warmer for peak power

Bad idea..
Aluminum engines make peak power around 210-215*
Iron engines hold in the heat, so peak comes in around 185*-195* as posted above.

With my fans re-tuned; my water temp (Stock T stat) sets at 195* and gets no hotter the 215*

and to change it your sopposed to remove the front exhaust manifold. i dont know if you can sneak it by or not

and the stock t-stat in our cars is already a 187* unit...

no need to change it... leave it as is...
