Default New GXP owner

Hello all, new proud owner of a 2005 Blue Green Crystal Grand Prix GXP. Bought it almost a month ago for $8,000. It had a little over 82,000miles on it.

I really didn't want an 05 because of no chrome interior accents, an 07 would have been my first choice. But the low price and it being for sale right around the corner from me, had to pick it up.

Runs excellent, has a new transmission. Only complaints :

1. ABS/Traction lights are on, some kind of error on the display
2. HUD doesn't work

Unfortunately, there was a hale storm recently (I live in Ohio), and my car got dinged up pretty good. So it's at a dealer/body shop being fixed. I have a 2010 Dodge Caliber SXT as a loaner. The pain of driving this car is too much compared to driving in my GP GXP. It was a choice of a Caliber or Kia.

Heres a few pics of my new car and old car. This is my second car.

I'm thinking of modding it soon. Nothing major. IDK how long I'll keep it. Couple YR's.

- Trans cooler
- Electric Cut out - do i need one or dual? and electric meaning two settings, 0 and 100. Or 0 and anything inbetween 100, like 5% or 70%?
- Downpipe
- Shift Kit " http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_p...=570&catid=105 " or " http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/...-000037937.htm " - which one is best? or are they the same?
- CAI

Please help. Thanks guys, and there's some very nice cars on here. I'm jealous.

Welcome to the forum!

1. The heads up display is probably the spring inside. Normally it just comes loose. In fact, when I bought my GXP, this was the case. Here is the article with repair instructions: http://www.atthetipwebs.com/technolo...ctions/hud.htm

2. Chances are your traction control warning lights may just be a ripped abs line coming from one of your hubs. That is just a chance, so just take a peek at those.

The car however looks great! I've always loved that color on these cars!

Enjoy.

Your list of mods looks excellent as well. (I would stay away from ZZP, they really do not know much about LS4's)

I'd go with the 2nd link you posted, the Transgo. The tranny guru at TEP recommends them as well

If someone tried to reset your tire pressure monitors, and hit the reset button twice, it will activate the traction control and abs lights. I dont know why it does, but I had it happen to me. I borrowed a scanner and cleared the codes.

There are no tire pressure monitors in the 05-06 GXPs. It's all ABS action. 07-08 have the sensors though.

Working on a conversion here though...

as mentioned above, i dont know how it works either but the tire pressure indicators go off on the DIC every once in a while on my car. Being you have an 06 im sure you know of this already. Just saying if you hit the rest button twice, it will set the lights off.

I agree--I'm very happy with my Transgo shift kit. The installation was quick and easy. TEP sells a shift kit kit that comes with gaskets and a filter that you might want to consider.
