Default l36 alternator pulley

I'm working on a 2003 monte carlo and I'm trying to replace the alternator pulley. I see a big bolt with a star in the middle, do I need to take the star out first before I can take the bolt off, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

If it like the GM alternators I’ve worked on, just use an impact gun on the nut. The shaft of the alternator should be broached for an Allen key just to hold it still.
