Looks like a thread just bashing CalSpeed. I see nothing of real value to it. Jim answered his questions and then he bashed the answers too, even though 90% of what he was stating was speculation/opinion. I don't think I would put a lot of weight on a conversation like that.

Got an update!
Jim from CalSpeed called yesterday to tell me that we should have the prototype set very soon. He'll know more on Tuesday, but once the prototype is received, we'll install them on a test car and make the final changes. These changes will be sent to back to the manufacturer, and then the updated final prototype will be sent shortly thereafter.
I know these timelines are vague, but we'll hopefully have more info early next week! It is getting closer!!
Thank you all for being so patient!!

CalSpeed is providing specs to a header manufacturer that will be building them accordingly, very much like most performance parts are developed and produced. CalSpeed actually specializes on LS motor builds, swaps, and turbo kits. Since they do so many swaps, they've developed a need for custom exhaust (headers, catbacks, etc.), so they now work with a manufacturer to get this stuff built.

Anyway they would be willing to do manifolds for the cartuning kit?

I left Jim a message a couple of hours ago.
Based on the number of Cartuning kits being sold for the LS4, I'm not sure he could make business justification for doing it, as he needs a minimum order of 25 sets that he has to buy up-front.
Makes sense. I was just curious if they had their own manufacturing facility. I know they've been doing LS and truck headers for awhile at a great price. And of course when anythings cheaper than the "name brand" stuff you'll see bad reviews, but with the amount of people ive seen that have been satisfied with calspeed headers I wouldn't hesitate to run a set.

I apologize if this is a newbie post (because...well...it is), but can someone explain to me exactly what the advantages of headers are?
I understand that they "replace" the exhaust manifold and have something to do with increasing the efficiency of expelling the exhaust gasses. This, through some sort of magic, then causes an increase in generated power. Can someone explain this in accurate, but layman's terms?
Also, are there any supporting mods that need to be done when installing headers?
Again, I'm sorry for the newbie questions, but I figure you have to learn somehow.
Many thanks!
