I already got the ls4 engine and trans, I'm just missing some other stuff. I had someone that was willing to give me over 3k for the ls4 set up. I was planning to sell it and buy this 2002 Tahoe 5.3 a guy was selling for $1500, perfectly running. So I guess I will keep my ls4 drive train and gather up the rest of the parts and perform the swap. The guy who's helping me has previously rebuilt an mid 60s Chevelle SS and also restored an 64 Impala SS, so this swap is nothing to him, and I had the pleasure of working with him the last 3 years I been in this warehouse(he's been there 26 years!).

I will definitely post pics in this very ls4 forum so keep a look out. I was planning on doing it around February of next year, but one of my guys from work drives a pos new edge gt mustang and he's constantly talking smack, so I think I'm gonna get started on this swap in a month or two. But first I'm gonna hook the body up and getting it looking good. So keep a look out.

If someone is offering you $3k for an LS4 setup, you should take his money and laugh all the way to the bank. A complete dropout with motor, trans, all accessories, harnesses and computers can be had for around $1500 and I've seen them for as little as a $1000.

Truth!

I picked up 2 a few weeks back - both complete dropouts with all accessories/harness/ecm cradles, steering racks, etc... $1800 total.

One of them even had a GM replacement transmission.

It all depends where you live then. When I had to buy a junkyard LS4 I had two options within 250 miles. One with a valve that smashed into the piston for a grand or a running block for $1800. And that was just the long block.

Why not sell the whole package... car and parts and just buy a SS, after all everything is already in place, working and you also get the full SS package!

Not a option. I don't care about having a oem SS, I just want the engine, and I have a monthly payment on it. The SS in my area starts at 13,000+. So like I said, not an option considering the fact I already have majority of the parts to perform the transplant.
