Will any other LSx water pump fit the LS4? I have more space than usual (in my build) on the front of the engine and am wondering if any other LSx water pump might bolt up and fit the holes in the front. I guess I might need a different harmonic balancer too so I would definitely need to know the year make and model of the water pump that gets suggested... to match the other accessory pullies.

Any Gen 3 or Gen 4 water pump will bolt to the LS4, its just a matter of matching the balancer and accessories to the water pump and having adequate clearance for everything.
The bolt pattern on the Gen 5 pumps is the same as the LS4 (or close enough for the bolts to pass through the pump and thread into the block), but the shape of the ports are vastly different. Here I traced the ID of the ports from a LS4 type gasket on a Gen 5 water pump (truck version):
