I've never had any issues running the JBL GTO's on 4ohm rated amps, as long as the amp doesnt overheat.

Hey buddy,

End up completing the swap?
How do you like the sound, low/mid/high compared to stock?

Good bass response?

Thanks,

Mike

I finally got the time to finish the swap. The JBL's sound really good. No comparison between them and the stock. Bass is very good. I also replaced the 3.5 inch speaker in the front. All in all it sounds 100% better. The rear JBL's are 6x9.

Nice,

I may do this to supplement stock instead of a brand new amp and speakers (for the time being at least)!

I agree, I kinda don't want my sub anymore and rather just have a nice flush sound system like in the maximas, granted they have subs in the rear deck, which I may do as well. I think the monte back is pretty well sealed from the trunk. I think this set w/ a nice 600 watt amp would do the trick. I made the mistake of getting 4 way speakers from Walmart cause the stock ones sucked when I had my 12 cvr hooked up

I only replaced speakers. Everything else is still stock. I wish I had thought to take pictures but I didn't. I basically desoldered the plug off the stock speakers and soldered it back on the JBL's the same way it came off the stock speakers two wires went to the tweeter and two wires went to the main speaker. I just kept track of which wires went to the tweeter and which to the main part of the speaker.

If you are separating the 2 way speaker the resistance value is cut in half. 4ohm 2way = 2 separately wired 2ohm woofer and 2ohm tweeter.
