cam timing

cam timing When I removed the cam last night I was in such a hurry I forgot to set #1 at TDC nor did I make a reference mark on the block to camshaft position. The car is a friends so I cant just go look at it and its been driving me crazy thinking about it. There should be a dot on the block and cam/cam gear to line it up if #1 is at TDC correct?
