Default Wierd Idle? Failed Smog!

Ok well here is my problem!

In the mornings when i start my car sometimes the car will idle at about 1500 RPM which i know is not right.

When it does this i turn the car off and wait a minute and then restart the car and it Idles just fine at about 1K rpm untill it warms up and drops to about 600 RPM.

Well i went to get the car smogged today and it failed Because the NO(PPM) was too high at the 15 mph test here are the results.

max 689 ave 150 meas 725 @ 15 MPH fail
max 706 ave 136 meas 417 @ 25 mph pass

I pass at 25 MPH but fail at 15 MPH?

any sugestions?

don't have an answer for you, but did they do a visual and do you still have the air/egr hooked up?

nox is created from high combustion temps. you dont need egr to pass but it would def help. did they have the fan blowing in front of the car? long idle before actually doing the test. we do the 15 mph test last which is why im wondering if maybe the fan wasnt blowing and the motor was just running a bit hot.

yeah i have everything still hooked up! they did a visual and it passed but they said that my MOROSO CAI doesnt have a carb number so i have to show them something to prove its smog legal so i will print something out for them.

I think they had the fan blowing?

I have a lower Thermostat also to keep the car cooler!

It didnt fail by much! Im thinking of replacing fuel filter and running some fuel treatment fluids.

I also got my car tuned by Mad Tuner!
