Copper header gaskets...how do they go in?
So I got some copper gaskets that will hopefully fix my leaky Percy's, but which way do they go in? They have the embossed ring around each port, but does the flat part go up against the header or the head?

I'd also put the raised toward the header, it's the only thing that makes sense. The heads are not perfectly flat of course, but they're much more so than the headers, unless you've purchased some quality ones that are CNCed flat.

Yes and no. There's manual and computer (CNC) mills. Now the Yes part is that Computer Numerical Control doesn't do the work, the mill does, and thus the header would be milled.
Sorry for assuming folks could make the connection :\

This just reminded me (which you're welcome to call BS on, but is the truth) that my friend had told me long ago when I was working at the parts store that the copper gaskets suck *** lol Hell, for cast iron heads and factory manifolds he doesn't even bother to use a gasket and yet they don't leak! Mind you this is GM V8s, doubtful it'd carry over to another manufacturer.
