How bad is this?
Bought a motor from MAF to oilpan with homeported head and intake with a GM846 cam and 58TB. The bottom end was rebuilt with a new stock crank, rods, and stock piston. The block was also linebored and assembled at machine shop. The guy I bought it from said it needed a timing chain since he ran out of funds and used the old one so I got a new timing set and dropped the oil pan and decided to see if pickup tube was tack welded like he told me and it was. But while I was under there I took a glance at the cyl walls and this is what I saw.
I've been a mechanic for good while now but never was involved with engine rebuilding just your typical R&R. Do I have a good reason to be worried or is this a normal wear pattern. The pics are of cyl 1 and 2, the rest of the cyl look the same. The guy also said the motor has less than 1000 miles but he sprayed it with a 200 shot a half dozen times with less than 500 miles on it.
So guys, help me out and give me your opinions. Should I do the motor swap or do a H/C/I swap on a motor than has over 130,000 miles? Or be patient and buy a Nitrous kit for my stock motor and slowy go through the newer motor?

It is impossible to tell how deep the markings are from those pics. If they are superficial, I would not worry too much about it. It would not hurt to check compression and leakdown test on all to see how they are.

I couldn't feel anything with my fingers and my camera suxs, thats a good idea about compression and leakdown test. I should have thought of that. Thanks

looks superficial to me, i wouldnt worry about it, 200 shot tho, id be swapping bearings regardless and trying to uh.. not sure the techinical term but you take a punch and hit the block by where the main caps sit, trying to squeeze the block tighter to the main caps, so they dont walk, im SURE they have.
