Default My Build Thread, why not?

Never done one of these before, so thought I'd give it a try.

I used to be real big into the f-body scene about 5 years ago (some of you might remember me, who knows) then life took over and I dropped off the face of the internet. I got tired of looking at my car rotting away and decided to do something about it last November.

Old setup -

1995 Trans Am, Ram Air hood/airbox, Stock heads, big XE grind cam/valvetrain, Jet Hot long tubes, Hooker cat-back, A4 3600 converter, 3.42 gears (10-bolt), BFG drag radials, electric water pump, yada yada. Ran a best of 12.5 @ 109 with a 1.70 60' (if I recall correctly, only got one pass on this setup before my trans started acting up) at Maple Grove Raceway in PA.

Stock suspension.

New setup -

Pics are with a cell camera - sorry!

Engine-
Gil Davis Racing-built 383 (.030" over, 3.75" stroke), factory 4-bolt block, Clevite H-series bearings, forged crank, forged Scat 6" rods, SRP forged -5cc pistons, zero-decked block, Canton 242T oil pan, Melling 10552 oil pump, Superdamper, Advanced Induction ported 200cc Dominator head package with .028" gaskets (results in 12.4:1 static compression), custom hyd. roller cam, Cloyes double-roller, LS7 lifters, Crane Gold 1.6s, TF chromemoly pushrods/guideplates, Canton valve covers, strip ported intake manifold (powdercoated metallic green to match the car), 42# Delphi injectors, Holley 58mm throttle body, CSI electric water pump, LPP long tubes/y-pipe to a cutout, Jegs Protorque starter, stock MAF, PCMforless programming.

Drivetrain/Suspension-
CPT 4L60E with 4000 Yank converter (on the way)
Ford 9" with 3.90 gears (will likely need 4.30s)
Weld Prostars (15x3.5" front, 15x8" rear with ET Streets)
Denny's Driveshaft Nitrous-ready driveshaft, 1350 yokes
33 spline axles, full spool
All BMR suspension (boxed everything)
Wilwood rear brakes

I don't think I missed anything...but I'm sure I did. Anyway, tell me what you think. The engine is built and ready to be put in. Should be ready to go in about one month, then some springtime shakedown passes (any ET guesses?). I'm just finishing up some last-minute odds and ends in the meantime (cleaning/painting engine bay, etc). It takes alot of money to restore an f-body that's sat for 5 years. Don't worry, I regret it wholeheartedly.

should give more info about the cam...I love my setup now and am running the same compression, are you goin to run standard gas, E85 or alchy. i run two tunes one for 93 octane and one for E85. Most of the time i run E85 so I can advance the timing.

Cam is high 230s, mid 240s, around .60x lift on a 108 lobe.

It will be a street/strip warrior, so I'll leave it tuned for 93 right now. See how it runs, and I'll step it up to E85 if I feel the need.

When it takes a few minutes to read the whole set up, that's when you know its going to be a nice performer...
Nice man, can't wait to see some vids and some time slips!

Sounds like a nice setup, what sort of ET's are you shooting for? I see your sticking a Yank 4000 stall in there are you going with the SS or PT?

Hopefully I'll run into you at either Atco or Maple Grove this summer.

I decided on the PT4000. Seems like a better bet for efficiency up top.

I like it! You should really do a dyno tune and not just mail order tuning (if that is what your post meant).

What kind of air intake setup are ou using?

The PCMforless programming is just for the base tune. I plan on a dyno tune - definitely going to need it.

The air intake is a WS6 hood/airbox, stock MAF, 58mm TB.

Nice choice, thats pretty much why I chose that stall as well. Are you going to have Bryan dyno tune the car when you do? Im looking to have my car tuned by him this summer at the outside Philly location. I have another guy down and Bryan said if we could get one more person or so he could drop the price by $50.

That is a definite possibility! He did the dyno-tune last time, so I was looking to see if I can get him to do it again.

Any idea on dates?

yea your setup is pretty close to mine...mines around 24x/24x and around .6, 107 lsa. I really like mine now. what are you runnin for exhaust? I'd expect you would run low 11's when its dialed in.

I have LPP long tubes and a Hooker cat-back with a cutout. Cutout will probably stay closed most of the time.

No no no...QTP fixes that issue.
