First make sure the shop you are working with is reputable and has
experience with LT1 heads. (References with Lt1s are good)
Talk to the shop, get a feel for what they do and don't know and how they treat customers.

Cam selection depends heavily on things like vehicle weight, purpose,
rear end gear ratio, budget and future plans. With a stock bottom end,
something between 224/230 and 230/236 is about as big as you want to go.
Otherwise, you end up with a powerband you can't reach without spinning a rod bearing.
(FWIW: I DDed a 224/230 cam with my LE2 heads, it was awesome )

Most professionally-ported heads end up with either 2.00/1.56" or 2.055/1.60" valves.
It really depends on the application and portwork.

My advice is to poke around and see what others are doing, see what works
and what doesn't before sending you heads off to a shop. You could save
yourself form wasting $2000 and having your heads ruined. There are literally
hundreds of Heads/Cam threads in this section.
