Default i think i just about blew my engine help!!

So i was driving yesterday afternoon,i had just pulled it out of the garage and only driven about 2 miles when i glanced at my pillar gauge and see im running around 250 degrees.I immediatiatly pull over and pop the hood and i hear coolant boiling like its gonna pop the rad cap off.
Anyway a shop in my town just did a water pump and timing chain for me 2 weeks ago and i want to know if they could have screwed smething up,or if it could be in the thermostat it has a hypertech 160 in it know
Any advice would be aswesome

thanks

they could possibly left some air in the system, but if it hasn't done it before now it's not likely. Some how you are getting air in there though....maybe check the pressure on the rad. cap and make sure it can hold the psi.....or your t-stat could be stuck closed, or you could have a popped head gasket, there are a lot of possibilities to overheating

Make sure the water pump dowl that connects the pump drive to the , gear inside the cover is there. If left off ( sometimes stuck on old pump ) the water pump wont work at all.

Fill and bleed the system properly. Check to see that your fans are coming on at 226*/235*F respectively. Replacing a thermostat is easy, you could try that also.

One more thing. I know its stupid but sometimes the dumbest things are the most often over looked. Make sure none of the hoses have callapsed and become kinked or flattened,

Yep bleed that system. Air bubbles can cause major cooling problems.
