Default Steering wheel lengths

Hey my brother was changing out his steering column in his 95 z28. He bought one off of here from another 95 z28. Anyways the length of the shafts are different at the end that stick out into the engine bay. His is about 2 inches longer than the one he bought. Was there any differences in the steering columns.

Are you sure it's from a z28? The lengths should be the same.

yeah i am sure it is from a 95. it was from..bought it from chris off of here...linky https://ls1tech.com/forums/non-lsx-p...-1k-miles.html only difference was that he had a auto in it i assume but in the pictures he posted it had a manual in it...but it was in a wreck and my bro was saying that there is a piece that breaks and allows it to move up to prevent damage i am wondering if i can adjust it

The shaft in the column moves in and out. I had the same problem with a column I bought too. I bought different couplers and called dozens of people. Finally, I talked to Madman and he told me it was probably just pushed in.

I put a large bolt through the end where the coupler connects and tapped it with a hammer until it came back out.
