Never had a problem with Fel-Pro; whatever that is.

Fel-Pro sells BOTH the rubber and the '97-style redesigned Teflon one.

Only use the Teflon one if you can ensure the crank is clean/free from oil and with no 'groove' or lip on the crank surface where it will seal.

The Teflon needs to be installed dry, otherwise it WILL leak.

You cannot use the Teflon with a rear-main repair sleeve.

But, the Teflon has a longer service life and really has no ability to leak if installed properly on a properly prepared and smooth crank.

Thus, if it is an existing application that has rear main leak you are fixing, go with the rubber seal. If it is a new motor/rebuild with everything prepped properly and checked out, go with the Teflon.

If you are fixing a rear main leak, also check to make sure the crank is not scored/grooved. If it is you have two choices, as someone (don't remember who) makes an offset rear main for ones with grooved cranks (basically uses a different area of the crank as the sealing surface), or you can buy a repair sleeve that you press onto the crank with a sealent that will provide a new sealing surface.

^^^+1. My car is '97, so I guess it's Teflon.
