Somethings i can think of as far as the fuel system goes, i know the EFI psi is way too much at like 40-50psi and carb'd needs like 5-9psi. So will he need a differen't pump or how can we address that.
THen we'll need a FPR correct? any suggestions?
Fuel rail and anything else needed?
Distributor wise i've found most people use HEI's correct? any good suggestions? any that fit under the cowl?
Waterpump- I'm sure an EWP would be best here right?
What about the timing chain cover? gonna have to plug the opti hole or how would that work with the end of the cam sticking out a bit?
Sorry for all the questions just trying to figure out everything, anything i'm missing?
Thanks so much!

the HEI distributor most likely will not fit under the cowl of a 4th gen. I'd look at one of the flat top style ones (as seen on vortec engines right before the big LS changeover) Then plug the hole for the opti, run an EWP then slap a FPR in line and makesure to keep the return hooked up. If you keep the return hooked up you can run your pump and knock the FP down to n acceptable level. Or go get a pump from a third gen TBI powered car, they only put out like 15 psi and will bolt in.
Personally I say leave the FI makes the car alot more fun then dealing with the arcaic issues of a carb. but thats just my .02
