Default Dose a 160 degree thermostat affect AC or heat?

I just ordered a Hypertech 160 degree thermostat for my 94 Trans Am. Will It affect my air conditioning or my heater in my car? And will it make a noticible power difference?

A/C, no...Heat, Slightly...Power...not much

It has nothing to do with the AC...The engine will not run AS hot so the heat will not get AS hot...but it will still be warm...if you live in a REALLY cold area, you will notice it in winter...

Power is only gained because the engine will be running cooler, but if you do not get a tune to lower the temp the fans turn on, then it wont make a whole lot of difference unless your moving because the engine will still heat up to 210 before the fans kick on when your sitting still.

Heat yes. My ta has a 160 therm and the fans turn on at 170 or so. The car throws NO heat in the winter. Thats fine for me cause the car sits for the winter after the first snowfall.

I have the 160 Hypertech and my car still makes very good heat.

It will add power if you're tuned for it because the timing curve can be more aggressive w less chance of detonation at cooler engine temps.

I'm sure there are tables that are temp based too so the timing gets advanced when it's colder, even on stock tuning, but I am not 100% on that as I haven't played with it in tunercats, yet.

By itself, the only thing it will do is increase the time your car gets to operating temperature, as a result of opening sooner.

i have a 160* and in winter time(wisconsin) i get decent heat. Its nothing crazy hot but it is warm enough to keep any people inside the car comfortable on those below freezing days. It only takes a few minutes to get some heat for me.

power difference, didnt notice any. i dont see how you really could notice.

The lower stat is just a piece of the puzzle that works in combination with lower programmed lower fan settings. Wont feel a power diffrence at all by itself, but the combination with make it a more consistent vehicle at the track due to reduced heatsoak.
