Default lt1 cooling issues

hello everyone i am stumped on this one. my friend has a 95 formula lt1 six speed. when you turn it on the fans come on but when driving it will get hot and the fans wont kick on, how do we fix this. and lastly what is the best way to burb these cars we are having trouble gettin all of the air out which i think is maybe an issue with it gettin hot also. is it true to jack up the front to where the radiator is at the highest point to burb thats what i heard please help thanks

No reason to jack it up. Follow this procedure.

Could be tuned to come on like that. If there is a "check engine" light on, that will cause the fans to come on immediately.

I've ready many things while going through the process of rebuilding my Z28. I've read that from the factory, the fans are programmed to kick on at an insane temperature reading, which I can confirm that is true. Before my Z lost half a compression ring, I was irritated when going out for lunch break trying to get something through a drivethru quickly, and every time I had to shut off the car while waiting in line so I wouldn't chance it overheating.

My suggestion if burping the coolant system don't help much:

Get a 160* thermostat, get your computer tuned for the fans to kick on at a much lower temp (pcmforless.com is where i went)

good luck

Chavez is correct, if the check engine light is on, the cooling fans will come on by default. If the light is on, scan for codes and post them here.
