Default A/C Broken quick question

Well Thursday my AC was blowin cold as could be and friday it is blowin out straight fire air. I believe it has leaked out all of the freon, but the question is where are the most common places for these systems to develop a leak? Also is it possible that it could be something else simply because it happened so quickly?
Thank you
Justin

It could be a couple things. If it was running cold one day and hot another day you either have developed a serious leak or the compressor could have failed. Can you confirm that the compressor is turning on? You should also check how much pressure the A/C system has by connecting a pressure gauge to the high side.

+1 - Check the compressor first to make sure there is pressure and also that the clutch is engaging.

The two most common leak points are the compressor crankshaft seal, which will show up right behind the pulley. The other is the compressor case seal where the 2 halves come together.

Remember, if you have a refrigerant leak you also have an oil leak. When you recharge, you'll need to add oil to the system as well.
