Finally, cam installed and engine running but questions
So, Back in January I had this car running and it felt fast! However, I ended up breaking a valve spring because I didn't take the the dampener spring out of my VS2700's. Anyways, it's all running good now, but I raced my friend the other day and we both expected me to pull on him pretty hard, but I didn't. I eventually pulled away from his truck, but not until the top of third. There's a lot of variables because he also has better flowing heads than his truck used to, but he also has a smaller cam, so IDK.
Also, to be noted my car is not tuned yet. Will it make a pretty significant increase when it is tuned? I know I would have been faster just by being able to shift at 6400rpm, or so, because the cam peaks at stock redline. It also runs pretty choppy at lower RPMs, but I think I may also have a couple of bad spark plug wires arcing on the headers.
Anyways, just want to know how much of a difference I should see with a tune. I was going to go with trifecta, since they are near me.
One thing is the cam definitely pulls all the way to redline, where the stock cam died past 5000 it seemed. Just can't tell if it's overall faster...

Also, without a tune would the engine be running lean or rich with all the mods I've done on a stock tune. I was thinking it should run lean, but my friend said when I passed him he could smell a lot of fuel...

I was told the regrind is just as good by multiple people, including professional engine builders. Second,...No, I haven't been running it for 9 months at all. It broke a valvespring in January and I didn't get it running until about a month ago and I've only driven it a hanful of times because I can't afford to fill it up...so, if someone could answer my questions without thinking they're smarter than everyone, that would be cool.
I just wanted some questions answered. The regrind is perfectly fine. It lopes and sounds just like the regular compcams cc503, and hydraulic roller lifters don't wear out cam lobes very fast, so I'm no too worried about it. It's not like it's a solid tappet cam, so why would it be bad.
Look up Delta Camshaft online and you'll learn that a regrind is just as good, and a lot cheaper.

Oh, btw, I figured out why it was bucking so much...I had two plug wires arcing on the exhaust....I seem to have this problem often, but I bought an extra set and rerouted the driver side wires with 5 and 7 over the valve cover. Those were the two rubbing the longtubes. Night and day difference now. I know it still needs a tune, but it definately feels more normal. And pulls a lot harder.

Dude...I'm poor. My electricity bill is more important. Everyone has to be god around here.... The attitude you have and everyone else with being condescending and thinking you're know it all and are better is really annoying. The worst part is I know half of you smart *** punks are between 18-20 and on forums 24hours a day absorbing information and then thinking you know everything.
You don't think I would get a tune if I had $500 or $600 to spare???? I guess for some people that's chump change, but not for people with bills and a low salary.

I'm 23 they are just trying to help you out man. I think it would cost more to rebuild ur engine after it blows and even after ur rebuild it your probably gonna want a tune. Do it right the first time. save up for a new custom or off the shelf cam and then tune. Or not its your car.
Good luck
