Thumbs down smog and other bullshit

i am rebuilding motor and plan on running headers. what do i do to get rid of the smog equipment and have it run right? i assume that will be taken care of in the tune i will get after break in?

remove the AIR pump (low drivers side of the motor) and EGR valve (back of intake) and block off the two holes left open. You can also remove all the associated tubing with both systems.

removing both shouldnt greatly affect the performance of the motor... but since you're getting it tuned anyway, have both tuned out.

With the AIR pump don't forget to block the hole in the intake ducting too.

A few companies sell EGR block-off kits.

There will be no performance difference without them, positive or negative. Have them all tuned out.

do you know who sells them or is there another way i can block them off?

You can make your own block-off plates if you want by tracing the EGR valve and tube onto a piece of plate metal (1/8" or so) and cutting them out.

There are a few companies on eBay that sell kits too - just do a search for LT1 EGR delete.
