rpms drop

rpms drop so this problem usually happens on my way back from tucson, but the problem is when im cruising at 70 mph rpm's are usually at 2400-2500 and i noticed that when i punch it to pass someone ill slow back to 70 mph then i noticed the the rpm's are rising and it ill hit 3000 rpm when im still cruising at 70 then it will drop back to 2500 nd then back up, just back and forth, my check engine light will start blinking and then after a min it will act fine but it usually does this on my way back from tucson.
what could cause this?
mods: lt pacesetter, no cats, moroso cai,3,42 gears, ORY, Magnaflow exhaust, small stall 2800 possibly,msd 6al ignition box, and full suspension.
