This is my first try with an LSX motor. Friday morning was the first pass on the motor. We only made 1/8th mile passes all weekend and we did have a computer related problem that kept us below 6000 rpm. The good news is that we ran 112.85 mph in the 1/8th with these issues, so we know that we are on the right track. We also chose a glide for our first outing. We had no sixty foot, so a three speed will be going in soon. The motor is a 389 ci LS7 with a bone stock intake. It made pretty good rwhp on the dyno.

We plan to run Bowling Green in September. You should see an improvement by then. We hope to have our stuff figured out by Indy.

This was a fun event for sure and we are very happy with the data that we collected.

I knew after last years shootout you were talking about retiring it, and purchased the 2010 body. Will there be an LT1 back in it for the shootout? or will you be bringing the kids car?

Cant wait til you get the bugs out and compete with those LS guys!

That is still the plan. I got talking to Dr. Jamie at the PRI in December and decided to run the LSX series. Gump is the only car that I have that has a cage, so it is my "Test Car" for the LSX.


I have one of the first Body-In-Whites that was shipped.


The LS7 will stay in Gump. There is a good chance that I will be running it at Bowling Green the week after the LTX Shootout. I'm not sure what I will run at the LTX Shootout yet. The kids car is also an option. We will be testing it soon with the new LT1.


It will take a while to catch up to those guys. They have some very strong Hot Rods. As with anything in life, I have to earn my place.

Sounds like th e event was more of a test and tune for ya darren. I knew there must of been some type of mechanical or computer problem because the numbers were off. Congrats on the progress tho!

I run these shootouts for fun. We went to Atlanta knowing that we were only going to run the 1/8th. The goal was to get the points for showing up. We had a blast!




On an LT1 note, get me one more car for Street Stock!
