Question Cooling on the dyno? 396 dyno pull vid

I had to pull my 396 out to replace all the Spohn parts. Threw the carb on it from my other 388 lt1. We ran it on a dyno, had bit of a cooling issue with the motor. I looped the fittings on the left side of the water pump and capped the oil cooler line out the right. I'm running the two main feeds into the cooling tower in the right of the movie. The steam pipe is dumping into the dyno reservoir. It is not circulating the hot coolant well with or without the thermostat. I had to put a 180 in it since I left my 160 at the house. I'm using a electric water pump.

Does anyone have a better way to get the cooling system hooked up?

Other than blowing off the slip fit collar on the headers the run went well, the Holly 770 had some super fat jets in it. Its running some Sunoco 104 on the dyno. We never got to pull it to 6k, but did some 550+ numbers. After we got the jets right we didn't get to run it again.

I did not watch the video. How long were the pulls and how many were there in succession?

Despite what is usually said around here the electric pumps move LESS water at mid and high rpms, that is how they free up power by doing LESS work. They are usually sufficient but just that sufficient not great for cooling. Have seen a 30gpm in cool weather allow an engine to run warmer at 75mph than 35mph, the 35mph being at the end of a two hour road trip the 75mph being the bulk of the trip.
