Default Do i need to prime my motor again?

I have an LT1 that is pretty much ready to be fired up after being completely rebuilt, however i am concerned that since the motor was rebuilt over a year ago and has sat since (as a long block) and hasnt been primed since i got it, do i need to prime it again? My builder says no but it just seems like a long time to go without at least turning the motor or oil pump. So should i prime it again? Does it matter that i havent ran the motor yet since it was built and its been over a year?

New engines and properly rebuilt engines have nice tight clearances and assembly lube to keep the oil system primed. This said....I would do it just for the hell of it to make double sure especially if it has no intake on it. A good primer only cost a few bucks and it's piece of mind.

well.. running oil through an engine definitely isn't gonna hurt anything...

if the intake is off/engine is out of the car why not? only takes a minute

Using assembly lube doesn't require the engine be primed before starting. Wouldn't matter then, won't matter in a year.

If your worried about it just disconnect the coil wire and injector fuse and crank it over a few times to get the pressure up b4 starting it.

x2 this is what I did, even though the engine had lots of assembly lube. Engine was on stand for a almost 1 yr.
