What should i pay for another lt1 to have just to build?
Instead of waiting to pull my motor, find another ride and hassle with my car being down a buddy's brother said he has a complete lt1 laying around. Don't know mileage or condition. I'll update if/when i check the motor out in person. Also not out of a camaro apparently. Is there anything to watch when getting an lt1 outta something different? The block and heads are the same? If it's just mounting brackets or accessory placement wont matter if i'm just going to drop it in place of my motor? OH YEAH, what would be top dollar? What would be fair or a good price? thanks.

And of course, make sure the casting mark on the block just behind the driver's side head says 5.7, not 4.3. The side of the block will have "327" on it as well. Iron headed LT1s are not too bad and you can always find a pair of aluminum heads to go on it if you want. Not a bad way to pick up an inexpensive engine you plan on going through anyway.

I usually see them for 300-700 for a completely assembled old lt1 on Craigslist. There's one from a caprice right now for 300 around Minneapolis that I'm probably gonna pick up to do basically the same thing your talking about. And the cheapest aluminum heads around me right now are about 250-300 on the Craigslist.

The guy is asking $600 for the motor, harness & pcm. What do you think? This would be for a rebuild for awhile (knock on wood nothing happens to mine) but anything specific i should check out before investing in it?
