I'm helping a buddy of mine build a lt1 383 and that's pretty straight forward, but I have a few questions brought up by what a guy at comp cams told him. He ordered a custom small base circle cam (against my sugesstion cause the eagle rods clear the std cam) and the guy on the tech line told him he would need the retro fit link bar hyd roller lifters for that cam. He assembled the top end of the engine without me being there so I'm unsure of how everything looks inside, but is there a chance that the std comp lifters for the lt1 could go below the dog bones and cause issues? or is the comp guy just trying to sell him $600 in parts that he doesn't need? Anyway he's afraid to try to start the engine again now after the comp guy told him that.
