Default Weird Overheating Problem again

My Friend Brought a 94 Trans Am LT1 Stock With 110k On It,After 200 Miles Of Driving He Noticed The Temperature Gauge Began To Go Up Almost Into The Red,Since Then He Has Replaced The Radiator Cap,Flushed The Coolant,180 Tstat,Bled The Cooling System,Installed A Fan Switch. He Took It To A Shop Today Were They Say He Has A Head Gasket Leak(This was determined after he bled the system),Now The Temp Needle Is Going Into The Red But The Engine Itself Is Not Hot At All??? Any Idea Of What's Going On? Any Help Is Appreciated

Compare the dash reading with what is seen as temp with a scanner.

Mine was doin the exact same thing but It would only do it after driving for a long time. Hours that is. I put a 160 in it, flushed and bled the system thinking that's what it was. I drove it like that for 3 months only driving 40 miles a day never seemed to bother it. Figured it out when I tore the motor apart to rebuild it.

If its getting hot for no apparent reason it may be time for a new radiator.

Get a cooling system pressure tester, pressurize the system and see if it holds pressure. Just pump it up to the psi indicated on the rad- cap.

The car was probably fine to begin with, the fans don't kick in until 226 and 235 so yoyoing between 210 and 230 at idle or traffic isn't unusual.

Being that the car wasn't actually in the danger zone before and is now the system probably wasn't bled properly. Do it again, this time raise the nose of the car.

I'll bet you he has a clogged banjo bolt on the steam pipe that is not letting all the air out of one or both of the heads. I had the same problem on my 97 with 97k on it. It was an absolute bitch to bleed. Turned out one banjo bolt was almost completely clogged on the driver’s side head and the steam pipe was also clogged to about 95%. After I cleaned the banjo bolts and the steam pipe the thing bleeds so easy now. Takes me all of 10min from the time I start the car, Till it’s at temp, topped off and ready to drive.
