Default Fans question

I have a 96 Trans am and the fans won't come on. I hook my scanner up to the car and I can turn the fan relay on and off and the fans will turn on and off but the fans won't turn on when the cr it getting hot so it over heats. It has a new coolant temp sensor and water pump and thermostat any ideas?

What are you calling overheating? Did you observe the temp reading with the scanner? Did it go a little over 226° and the fans still not come on? How about around 235°?

Yah the scanner and gauge read the same but I didn't let it get to 226 cuz I thought that was to high. Would that but the gauge in the red zone if it was that high. Cuz the gauge was close to red and it was at like 216 before I shut it off

No, the gauge should be close to the middle at that temp. That's not overheating. Fans don't even come on until 226°. Maybe the sensor in the head is not giving good info to the gauge.
