Default Coil on plug conversion question

I have a 96 Trans am and I was thinking about doing the coil on plug conversion but my question is when u remove the opi spark. Will it leak oil out when the camshaft meets the opi spark?

with the ls1 pcm swap you actually put a camshaft position sensor where the opti would go that plugs the hole in the timing cover left by the opti

Sounds like you got some reading to do! If you do a quick search in this forum for 24x conversion you will find TONS and TONS of info. I would be more than happy to tell you all about it, but it would take FOREVER to type what is already written here in this forum! Good Luck!

Sounds to me like he is asking about the POS Delteq system or the LTCC both of which actually still use the opti. Either way yeah he is clueless.

The opti is a good piece if the owner is halfway competent.

It's not that daunting of a project. Word of advise... make sure you seat the cam sensor pigtail connector securely on the pins of the cam sensor itself. I did the whole conversion and then went to fire it up and then battled an intermittent "no-start issue" for about a month afterwards. Finally bit the bullet, tore it down to start over and double check everything. When I got down to the timing cover, I noticed the cam sensor pigtail wasn't seated all the way. #*$#%@!!!! Pushed it on until it clicked over the retaining pin and the car started immediately.

So take your time and be careful!!
