Default Starting LT1 tuning

Okay I have a 95 firebird formula with an LT1 from a 95 vette. It has a 3.73 rear gears and the trans was recently rebuilt. also a new torque converter. Not sure exactly what they have the stall at. I bought a ALDL cable so I can hook up my com. to the car. Now I need to know what tuning software I can use to change the gears. and set it up with the tires that are on it now. 17's front 18's out back. Also from the corvette. I downloaded PCMCOMM. to check the engine light that comes on from time to time. I would like to do everything for free or as close to free as possible. What programs do you guys use to do this stuff. Thanks

free scan is a good tool to just watch everything. Tunercats is what I used to change the speedo for the gear change on mine. Very easy to use and free. LT1 edit I have heard is good but I couldn't get my pc to communicate with my car last I tried to use it.
