Default 400whp 305??? Just curious

So off topic but i figured i would ask you guys since you guys have good advice anyway, buddy at work has an 89 305 TPI camaro, 5 speed, trickflow heads, cam, headers, and a vortech blower which he claims to be on 10=12lbs of boost. He claims to be at 380-400 whp does this sound right?? It does haul ***, but i just cant see 400 at the tire, maybe im wrong. Let me know what you guys think, he is going to race someone's vortech foxbody from a shop down the road 2moro ill see if i cant get a video for you guys.

Depends on the head, cam and tune but I see this as very doable.

It has trick flow heads, i cant remember the name of them i do know they are 1.94/1.50 heads, with a nice cam in it. It sounds awesome for a 305, probably the best sounding 305 i have heard.

I built a non-roller 305 motor many years ago for a buddy. Flat tappet .480 lift 230 dur Comp cam, with a 600 cfm Holley, RPM airgap, flattops and iron 305 S/R torquer heads and it put down 300+ to the wheels thru a 8.5 inch 10 bolt and turbo 350 tranny in his Nova. On a 100 and a 2800 shall, it ran 12.30's at 114mph. I see no reason why your buddies 305 with a quality roller valve train, couldn't put out 400hp to the wheels especially on 10 pounds of boost.

12psi is approaching double atmospheric pressure.

That much boost and aftermarket heads those numbers seem reasonable.

Those are smaller TF heads, likely the 175-185 version but they still flow great for such small valves. Depending on the cam and cr NA I could see high 290s to low 300s due to the tpi intake.

It will make 400rwhp UNDER 5500rpm and have some awesome tq around 28-3300rpm.
