Default 92-93-94-97 PM or forged rods?

I bought the book “how to rebuild LT1/LT4 engines” and I read that early Gen 2 LT1’s used forged rods and late LT1’s use PM rods. Books states that some LT1’s that 96’s have forged rods but the majority of LT1/4’s have PM rods. How would I know which ones I have because my car is a 93 but has a MAF. Which is why I think the previous owner either did some modifications or someone did a swap of some sort. Either way why arent all LT1’s have Forged if supposedly forged is stronger then PM?

From what I have seen the mid 94 statement seems accurate.

That said the "pink" rods and the PM rods are the same weight and functionally about the same durability.

...but probably cheaper to produce, hence the switch.

same thing with the 5 pinion planetary it was a switch from 4 forged to 5 PM cheaper to make.

Funny thing about PM is that they can be weak or super strong depending on how much effort the manufacture wants to put into them.
