advise on a 97 SS needed.
wass up everyone. Im somewhat interested in this 97 Camaro SS I encounter on craigslist however theres few concerns. It has no cats(engine light on) which I know will cost me an easy $500 plus a tune up another 300+, here's what concerns me the most current owner telling me it idles onces temperature reach half way. Should I be a player or pass on it?
He's asking $3,500 for his SS, I'm yet to verify SLP number or vin he will be sending me that information shortly.
here's craigslist link.http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/3887948767.html

Ask for the vin first so you can double check with SLP to verify it's a real SS. As far as the cats are concerned, this would be a great time to install some high flowing ones (I had a Magnaflow cat installed for pretty cheap a few years ago). To bad you've probably got Cali emissions, so getting the rear O2's tuned out is a no go. Did he install headers or something? Or was he just a tard and put a straight pipe in place of the cats. I can't remember, but does Cali do a sniffer on OBD-2 cars? If they just read the codes, and don't actually pop the hood you might get away with getting the rear O2's tuned out and not running cats.

This right here. No LT1 SS had that paint scheme nor did it come with chrome ZR1 style wheels. The VIN will tell you exactly what you need to know. If he doesn't want to comply then move on.
