Default I need a word of advise

I'm looking to purchase a flexplate for an LT1 to TH400 what tooth flexplate do I get. Never done any auto stuff so this is new to me.

Also I've been told that I have to get a special/custom made torque converter for this application.

This will be behind a built and boosted LT1. Any advice info will be greatly appreciated.

I don't see why you would need a special/custom anything.
I think a NAPA BK 6005062 should work, but it might not.

You want a SFI approved 153 tooth flexplate, and start calling torque converter places for quotes.

Make sure you figure out if you need an internal or external balanced flexplate as well.

From what I have seen to use a standard TH400 flexplate it needs to be 168 tooth to match the torque converter, but I normally don't mess with automatics.
The only time I have seen the need for a smaller flex plate is if the bell housing or whatever it is called on an auto will not fit the normal bigger flexplate.

With out the OP saying how the this will be used SFI may not be necessary.

Unless the OP wants a new starter etc, 153 tooth is standard LT1 and SBC.

I see no reason why you would not get a SFI approved one, its not like its much cheaper to not. But hey, this is LT1 land, its all bout the cheapest way to make it run.

Edit: This worked for a TH400 combo with an LT1, and worked with a stock setup

Cheap.
