LT1 gap after cylinder heads installed?
Late 1994 Formula 5.7L M6
Just got a fresh pair of heads installed. There's a small gap between the heads and the block. Is this normal?

Also It seems like the heads hang over the block on the back side of them. Is this normal? I don't have a picture of them.
Sorry if these seem like dumb questions but this is my first time with cylinder heads and I'm not an expert.

Looks to me that this is just the gap that the gasket occupies. The gasket has a specific thickness when compressed that will correspond to the separation between block and head.

OP, check the gap thickness (after final torque) with a feeler gauge and compare that to your head gasket compressed thickness rating, should match or be really close.

EDIT:
Found it, 0.052" compressed. So next step is to find a feeler gauge, thanks for the help, I had no idea there'd be specs like this.
