Default egr and exhaust emissions question

Would removing the egr module and vaccum and rest of the emission parts be damaging to the engine at all? Already have them out and would like not to put them back in unless it could hurt the engine

Unless your PCM has been tuned to ignore your EGR system, you will get the associated DTCs. IMHO (maybe others can chime in) it may be in your best interest to get your PCM tuned so whatever 'mode' your PCM goes into once the codes are set doesn't happen because the codes don't activate.

Depending on the mods you have keeping the egr can get you better fuel mileage if it is a DD.

Deleting my EGR didn't do a thing to my gas mileage. It's always sucked around town.

Ripping your emissions stuff out should only throw codes... Don't think the motor will run any differently.

I think it depends on the year. IIRC OBDI cars do not throw EGR codes?

My 93 did. Code 26 It was the evap solenoid which is egr related. The egr itself has its own solenoid which I imagine would throw a code if it malfunctioned or failed.
