Why I prefer LTx over LSx

Well I mean now a days LS is the way to. You have complete morons who know nothing about cars can easily make an LS fast. With the LT, it takes knowledge and serious planning to figure how to get decent hp to the ground. I like the struggle to try and figure out how these engines work and how to make them faster. Its always a great feeling when you can dog walk a LS motor and there 1st reaction is "oh sh**, an LT?".
If my LT ever kicks the bucket, I think I will attempt another one. I dare to be different. When I hear a LT1 run 9sec anything or even 10s, I get pumped and want to meet the driver. A LS that runs 9/10s, "Aannnnnnd? So What? Big whoop."Everything easy is not always fun.......JMO

The biggest thing that makes the LS1 faster than the LT1 off the showroom floor is the heads.. But I tell you what!! When the LT4 debuted GM went all out!! I mean the thing ran a 13.2x @109 stock back in the day all with better heads..

I looked at both LS and LT for my current Z. In the end, the LS1 cars in the area were overpriced, beat to hell, modded with God knows what by some idiot, or a combination. I found a ridiculously clean, bone stock LT1 Z in one of the colors I wanted with only 48,000 miles for $6800. Decent LS cars at the time were 1.5-2.25X in Chicago than that and most in nowhere near as good of shape.
I had two GEN 3 5.3L trucks and both had the pistons slap issue, one from 9K miles and one from about 32K. GM would fix neither.
I hate the Opti but hate the piston slap sound and the later burning large quantities of oil much more.
I do love an underdog and laugh at the "Bros" at the gym that say nothing but "LS this and LS that." The Gen 3-4 is great, but it's not perfect and I love the way my LT1 sounds.
I want to go as fast as I can with good manners and no roll bar, which means what, 11.50? I can do that with a LT1 with a little thought.
My ultimate goal is to be faster/quicker in the 1/4 than a basic Coyote powered Mustang. That's it, really.
I'll be happy to take the LS brakes, though...LOL.

Disclaimer: Wife's car is a 2006 Impala SS 5.3L. Nice motor...too much power for FWD.

This is the way I see it. A lot of peoples goals are somewhere around a 10 or 11 second car for the street, that amount of power can handle quite a few cars in production today. There is no reason an LT1 motor can't produce the power to do so and it has been done over and over. I stick with the LT1 because my ultimate goals are 11s N/A, and 10s on nitrous. I don't need to go to the work of swapping an LS in my car to make that goal. And I like the underdog factor as well. Like said, it's almost embarrassing to get beat by the little ol' LT1. That said, obviously the LSx is superior in every way in terms of availability, aftermarket support, response to mods. But my car didn't come with one so i'll keep what I have because like I said, an LS isn't needed to meet my goals.
Now if I were building something that didn't come with either engine, it's gonna get an LS because that just makes sense, especially if it's a lofty high horsepower goal i'm after. I want to build a turbo LSx 3rd gen bird some day.

I love the way my 383 with a huge cam and a 3 inch exhaust system sounds and it sounds even better when the cut out is open. LS engines don't sound as good. I like the LT front end more and like most people all I want is a 11 sec car N/A and 10 sec with spray. I've also accumulated too many parts for my LT1 engine to switch over now.

I'm on my 15th LT1 4th gen right now. I refuse to jump on the LS bandwagon. While it may be easier to modify an LS, it's not as easy as all make it out to be. And everyone says LS1 is the ****, but all you see are turbo 5.3s and LQ4 based engines. If LS1 is so awesome how come they are swapped for a 5.3 or 6.0 or even 6.2? I'm very impressed with the simplicity of the turbo builds and have much respect for the LS platform, but I'll stick to my LT1s. I currently have a '97 Z28 with 39k miles and I love it. And it's far from stock and will impress any Ls owner.

We shouldn't kid ourselves, the only reason we have LTxs is because when we bought our cars we couldn't afford LSxs and now we've got so much money tied up in these worthless cars that it doesn't make sense to sell it. Ramair95TA is an example of having 25gs into a car and he can't get 9 for it, I've got over 10 into my junk and couldn't get 3 for it if I sold it today.
