Default LT1 California Catalytic Converter P0430 Bank 2 Right side

I need some help finding the correct Catalytic Converter for obd code p0430. 1996 Firebird 5.7L trans am

Looking at the magnaflow website:

http://www.magnaflow.com/02catalytic...&splityear=OBD

Code p0430: bank 2 catalytic converter being inefficient

Part (universal) # : 408004 fits RIGHT Inlet/Outlet Size: 2 Inch I.D
Part (universal) # : 408005 says its fits RIGHT side but inlet/outlet is 2.25 inch

These Catalytic Converter fit both left and right? But the Inlet/Outlet Size slightly different.

Those sizes look like they are for 6 cylinder models . No way the same p/n will work on the driver side, at least not on the LT1. Not to mention they are universal weld-ins which will require measuring and cutting the old cat off and welding the new one. At the bottom of the page there are direct fit models. http://www.magnaflow.com/02catalytic...irectfit=46518

The ones i posted have the same Test Group Name/EFN: TGM5.7V8GFEK like the direct fit link.

So they look like they will fit on the right side. But 2 inch inlet, 2.25" and 2.5" is throwing me off. Not sure which one to get.

The factory cat is 11 inches weld to weld. The inlet is 2.25 inches O.D and the outlet is 2.5 O.D...roughly. The 408005 would be the better choice of the two but you will need to but weld or sleeve the inlet. The support bracket is welded at the outlet which you would need to cut behind and possibly remove then you could slide the cat into that pipe.

Would the 418006 be a better fit?

http://www.magnaflow.com/02catalytic...iversal=418006

INLET: 2.5in.
OUTLET: 2.5in.
BODY LENGTH: 11in.

Ya you know your lt1 that bracket very close cat. Maybe 1" gap

That should work. Same body length and the pipe ~2in each side should allow for fudge factor. It may be a bit sloppy on the 2.25 inch pipe but you could tack it, peen the edges down and weld around.
