It's your Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor... It measures pressure inside the intake usually in kPa and converts it for your PCM to use to measure air volume I believe for use in it's fueling algorithms.... More MAP voltage equals higher engine load.... 1 bar MAP sensors for NA engines and 2 bar or 3 bar for boosted motors since boost pressure goes higher than a standard 1 bar map sensor will read....
If it was out your motor wouldn't be able to accurately measure air volume and engine load and wouldn't do a great job in fueling accurately...
