I'm a bit bias but I love my Borla with my MAC headers. I have a high flow cat on it and I think it sounds beautiful. I don't think that you will be dissappointed, it should sound nice.

It'll sound really raspy with an ORY. The MAC's sound good because you still have a cat. The cat acts as a resonator. If you do run an ORY, I would have a resonator installed in your exhaust after the Y.

I have the RK sport mid length headers with Borla. I imagine that these headers will sound similar to long tubes wity ORY pipe.
Without the cat it sounds raspy and loud plus it pops. It really sounds bad, almost embarrasing.
I installed a dynomax 16" bullet muffler (resonator) in place of the catalytic converter and it makes a huge difference in the sound. The raspiness is now gone as well as most of the popping.
Here is the muffler I used:

I can also switch between my cat and the bullet muffler in less than 20 minutes.

I have slp shorties running through a gutted cat into my borla. I think it sounds pretty good but it could be because I do have a cam. Interesting question though because I was considering longtubes also.

I ran Borla's closed and open with FLPs when I had the '95 Z and thought it sounded sweet. Then threw in a CC306 and it was just plain mean. A little too loud without the blockoff plate in. Full block off sounded pretty good. I will see if I have any videos. I know there are some laying around somewhere.

i have longtubes, ORY, and borla catback. my friend told me this combo would sound like ****, because he has heard it many times. when i put my headers/y pipe on he said it was the best sounding non-cammed lt1'd he's ever heard. Open borla sounds awesome, closed borla sounds awesome, and no borla sounds awesome as well

you could always go change EVERYONE'S opinion on what sounds good, so they think your car sounds good. Thats only if it come out sounding like crap. I think it will sound good though.

You can always listen to different set-ups on this website. It should give you something close to your planned set-up. http://www.lt1engine.com/soundlib/
